Welcome to Avanti Glass! Please note that Avanti Glass is no longer a retail operation, and the entire studio and remaining inventory is in storage. I am working on some new projects, to be announced later in 2011.

This is a portfolio site, and images can be viewed on the Images page.

Having the glass studio in storage allows me the freedom to work on other non-glass projects, time and freedom to plan and create something fresh and new. Thank you to all my friends and clients for your support and encouragement! Look for an announcement in Autumn 2011!

April 2009 News:

Excerpt from a letter from the MMBC:

Re: The Vikings - exhibition at Maritime Museum, Victoria BC  that includes pieces from Valla Eiriksson's 1992-95 cast glass project "Out of the Darkness - Viking Magic & Mythology"

The Viking exhibit has proved such a success with the schools that we have asked the Manitoba Museum for an extension of the exhibit until the end of September 2009.

The cast glass exhibit has become an integral part of the exhibit. Not only does it illustrate Norse mythology, but it helps to underscore the point that Scandinavian Culture is still alive and is still able to hark back a thousand years for inspiration to tell a story in a very modern way.

Avanti Glass at Maritime Museum

Valla Eiriksson, owner of Avanti Glass Studio, was one of two guest curators for a recent exhibit at the Maritime Museum in Victoria, BC.

A selection of pieces from the early-1990's, part of her Out of the Darkness - Viking Magic & Mythology installation, was featured as a display of contemporary Viking-motif fine art.

The exhibit: The Vikings - Master Mariners, Navigators, Craftsmen and Colonists ran from November 26, 2008 - September 30, 2009.

The Maritime Museum is open 364 days a year, closed only on Christmas Day. Admission is free on New Year's Day.
